Satan and Hell

I like that movie. And the quote was very cool, but somewhat inaccurate.

Let me tell you something. The devil doesn’t exist. Lucifer, Beelzebub, Satan, whatever you want to call him. He’s not real. And it’s not a trick that he’s pulled to convince you of that, and neither am I one of his demonic minions come to convince you. (Although, if I was, I probably would tell you I wasn’t…)

Remember what I wrote about Chinese whispers? Lucifer wasn’t God’s 2nd in command, as some would have you believe. In fact, Lucifer never existed as an angel, or as a devil. It was the name given by your ancestors to Venus, the Morning Star. It comes from Latin: lucis (light) and ferre (to bring), and meant ‘the bringer of dawn’.

The name ‘Lucifer’ was first used about 1500 years ago in the ‘Vulgate Bible’, one of the earliest versions of ‘Chinese whispers’ that humanity’s been playing with, and was actually a personal insult by the translator at that time against a bishop he knew called Lucifer. The name stuck, and has been used ever since. Some things just don’t go away…

The name ‘Satan’ actually comes from Iran, when it was known as Persia. A prophet named Zoroaster talked about the struggle between good and evil, naming Satan as the Prince of Darkness. Over the years, Satan has played various parts in the Hebrew Bible, the Apocrypha, and the New Testament. He never appeared in the Old Testament. The Hebrews had Satan as an angel that God used to test mankind, while the other two Bibles had him as an evil demon who was the enemy of God and mankind.

Anyway, enough of the history lesson. The point is that Lucifer / Satan / whatever-you-want-to-call-him, is an element of fiction. Something to scare children late at night and hopefully make them go to sleep. Or to watch out for strangers, who just might be Satan in disguise…

What’s been really interesting for us observers is how the idea of Satan has affected you over the milennia. It’s affected your psyche so much that you start believing Satan is at work in everything that goes wrong in your lives. If you believe in Satan, of course.

Some of you believe it so strongly that you create entire worlds in your minds of what Hell must be like, and write stories and paint pictures and make movies. Hell exists only in the minds of humans. It’s not a reality that you go to if you’ve been bad!

The worst thing is, this deeply-held belief about Hell can affect the after life. If you believe you’ve been bad, and that you deserve to be damned for all eternity, then when you die in this world you actually go to a Hell that you create for yourself.

Do you think that Creation is just God’s domain? You create your reality here on this planet, with the thoughts and the actions that you commit yourselves to. You also create your reality beyond this life that you have, and you can create Hell or Heaven.

Satan and Hell don’t exist. The greatest trick humanity ever pulled was to convince themselves he does! It helps avoid responsibility though, which is nice and convenient.

Where is the love?

A long time ago, back during the Crusades, there was an old lady who was seen carrying two dishes, one holding fire in it, and the other holding water. (I was there, I saw this happen.) When one of the crusading Knights asked her why she was carrying them, she said that with the fire she would burn Paradise until there was nothing left, and with the water she would put out the fires of Hell until it was gone too. “Why?” she was asked.

“Because I want no one to do good in order to receive the reward of Paradise, or from fear of Hell; but solely out of love for God.”

Where is this love today? Where do we see people doing good simply for the sake of doing good, for the love they have for God?

People who say they are doing good these days are doing it because they’re either afraid of Hell, or hoping to reach Paradise. Nothing has changed in a thousand years.

God would love you to do things not in fear, or for his favour, but simply because it is in your heart to do something good for yourself or your fellow man. There is not enough of this today, and as a result, we see the Crusades happening all over again. Nothing was learnt, and the cycle continues. You can’t even say you forgot, because you know the history. And still you ignore it.

Where is the love?

Free will and death

I like Erin, she’s in touch with her Self. Not just herself, but her Self, the connection she has to that timeless, spiritual part of herself. Not everyone is here on this planet to touch themselves that way, but it’s refreshing to see some who are.

“What happens when we die?”, she asks. The answer is that free will applies even in the after life as it does in this life.

Everyone has the ability to choose the course of their life and the events in it, as well as choosing how they physically die. They also have the ability to choose the kind of after life they want to have, as well as whether or not they come back here to have another shot at life.

And they have the ability to choose the ending of their existence. If they choose this, then their energy returns to the energy of God, or All That Is.

Why would they choose non-existence?

Remember when I said earlier on that people develop a spiritual amnesia when they’re born? You forget why you’re here, and you forget the spiritual reality that you come from. You forget there’s more beyond this physical existence. Many people go through their entire lives believing so strongly in the non-existence of life after death that when they eventually die, they completely cease to exist as a being and return to the energy of the universe.

From dust to dust, ashes to ashes…

They don’t need to do this, if they let themselves at least be open to the possibility of life after death. Then they can be shown that their existence can continue, even after death, and they get more choices. There are beings out there in ‘the after life’ who help people see that their existence can continue. But they need to have the ‘non-believer’ be open enough to hang around a bit for a chat, to have this shown to them.

If you die and believe there’s no after life, be open to the possibility there is. It avoids the absolute ending of your existence, and allows you to go on, in whatever fashion you choose. We’d rather you choose to exist than to choose not to exist, but as always, the choice is ultimately yours.

Invoking Jesus and God

Erin understands the power of invoking Jesus and God:

I do believe that Jesus existed and that he was a man of exceptionally high awareness and vibration level. He was an Enlightened One. An angelic being of the highest order. There is no doubt in my mind why he chose to incarnate on Earth. Calling upon his energy and protection doesn’t seem remotely religious to me. It’s spiritual. Same with God. When I call out to God I am calling out to Source.

Everything in the universe is a part of God, and as part of Him, every person can access the God-energy for their own protection. All you need to do is ask.

When you get practiced at asking, you end up realising that you already have the protection if you want it, automatically. It doesn’t need to be something that is switched off when it’s not used, and switched back on when you ask for it. If you hold it in your mind and believe in it, then it’s always there.

And as Erin also says, it doesn’t matter what name you give the energy, whether it’s “God, Goddess, Jesus, Krishna,” or Allah, etc, the very act of invoking a name that is familar to you, that carries the power of your God, is enough to give you the spiritual protection you need.

Navigation, and server hosting

It’s obvious that God didn’t design these WordPress templates. And what’s the result? A damn mess, that’s what.

The ‘Recent Posts’ box at the top right only shows up to the 10 most recent posts. Unlike Blogger (blogspot.com), clicking on one of the links to a recent post doesn’t show the previous 10 posts. So don’t even bother trying to use them for navigation.

Unfortunately, you’re left with two choices. 1) Use the Archives for navigation, which is your best option, and 2) use the Categorisation for navigating around those posts that you’re most interested in reading.

The one true religion

I think it’s very sad how so many of the world’s religions feel that their’s is ‘the only true religion’. I think it’s also very sad that people will kill other people simply because those other people don’t follow ‘the one true religion’. Each of those religions promote peace, love and understanding as their guiding principles, and yet there’s so much killing going on in various Gods’ names.

“My God is better than your God.”

“No He’s not. Mine’s better.”

“Blasphemer! You must die!”

“No, you must die first!”

And their respective Gods watch on, with very few of them realising that each of their Gods is the same God. He means different things to different people, but He is the same.

If only these people knew that. They would discover that the one true religion was the religion that let them all believe whatever they wanted to believe. And they would be happy with that.

Chinese whispers

I know that the Bible is supposed to be the words of God, but really, who wrote it?  Did God?  No, He didn’t.  So if He didn’t write it, how likely is it that the Bible’s spiritual messages are exactly as He wanted them to be?

Have you heard of ‘Chinese whispers’?  That’s where you tell someone something, and they tell the same thing to someone else.  The only thing is, they’ll change a word or two here and there.  And then the person they told will tell someone else, also changing things.  By the time this has gone through a number of people, the original message has been lost completely, and the result is a completely different message.

That’s the Bible.

There are elements of the truth in there (but not the Truth – there’s a difference between the truth and the Truth), and some exceptionally good messages for you to follow. But after so many thousands of years of ‘whispers’, the words in there aren’t God’s words.  They’re the words of men.

I haven’t read the Bible.  I just listen to God instead.  It’s so much more interesting.  So please don’t question me about it.  I won’t tell you any truths from the Bible.  Instead, I’ll be talking about Truths in here.  Truths are much more relevent.

The Truth will set you free, as they say.  The Bible?  As far as I can tell, the Bible has become something to bind you, to control you, to force you to follow those religious leaders who promote it.

Follow only what you feel is right for you, not what others tell you is right for you.  They don’t know you like God does.  Let yourself listen to God in your heart, not in the words of the ‘chinese whisperers’ around you.

Guardian Angels

You all have them, did you know that? There’s not a single one of you that doesn’t have a Guardian Angel.

Before you were born you asked a friend to look out for you. They were someone very close to you, someone you trusted implicitly. And so, when you were born, they’ve been looking out for you from day one.

There’s only one problem.

Your birth creates spiritual amnesia, and so you forget that you have a Guardian Angel. (You also forget about your ’spirit guides’, but we’ll get to them in another post later on.) A result of forgetting about your Guardian Angel is that you absolutely believe that they’re not there. You can’t feel them, you can’t see them, and you can’t hear them. They’re not real! At least, they’re not real to your physical senses, which is what you base your reality on.

By thinking they’re not real, you often fail to see how they’re helping you with your life. When they actively try to assist you, by manipulating some part of your life in your favour, you screw it up! You ignore what they give you, or what they try to do for you. You walk away from the doors they open for you, thinking that you, in your infinite wisdom, know better.

And yet, they continue trying to help you, because that’s what they promised you. They know you’re physically blind to them, and they know that they’re being ignored. It saddens them, but they persist. They know that one day, you might accept the help they offer, and that’s worth persisting. That, and the fact that they can’t ignore the commitment they made to you.

How to help your Guardian Angel

How can YOU help your Guardian Angel? By opening your mind to possibilities in your life that might work out for your benefit. Look around you for opportunities that will give you more than what you currently have. Look around at the negative things in your life, and ask yourself how you can make things better for yourself and for those around you. And then start doing it.

You will be helping your Guardian Angel by letting yourself be helped by them. Look for those things that will help you grow, and will help you become happier, and will help you live a more fulfilling life, and you’ll be helping your Guardian Angel help you do all those things.

Go in peace.

God’s a woman?

It’s only in the past few years of humanity’s existence that people have been calling Him ‘Her’, and I think it’s really cool how He caters to those insecurities in women.

I know that He could have shown Himself as a woman at any time in the past.  I mean, He’s God!  He can be whoever He wants to be!  Him, Her, It, Whatever!  But He’s tried to appeal to the prominent thoughts at the time, and that has meant that when the men were socially dominant, God appeared as a man.  As women are rising to become social equals with men, they’re describing God as a woman, feeling the need to empower their gender by believing they are the same as God – better than men.

It really doesn’t matter what God is called though, as God is all things to all who exist.  (And not just on this planet.  Get that into ya, you elitists who think you are all that God has created.)

Since God is everything, you can call Him whatever you want, if it makes you feel any better.  Him, Her, All That Is…

Me, I’ll just call God Him, because I relate most to the masculine energy of Him.   Be happy with your own choices though, as there’s no one saying you’re wrong.  Not even God Him/Her/Itself.
